Spill the beans

Wednesday, 13 February 2013

I'd like to set up a little corner of this blog to give my thoughts and ramble on about products that I have been using lately. I follow a number of blogs and love reading peoples' opinions on everything from beauty bits to recipes, books to baby products.

So... for my first 'spill the beans' I thought I would talk about a product which I rely on pretty heavily in my current beauty routine. Stretch mark oil.

It's fair to say that I have developed a degree of OCD when it comes to slathering on the body oil recently. I managed to escape my previous two pregnancies relatively unscathed when it comes to the dreaded stretch marks, so I'm damned if they're going to catch up with me this time round.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit of a stretch mark oil floozy - flitting from one brand to another, hoping that they will fulfil their promise to keep those pesky purple lines at bay. But, as I crossed the third trimester threshold, I thought it might be time to bring out the big guns and try something that I've often heard raved about, but never splashed out on.

Step forward Mamo Mio Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Oil...

Mamo Mio Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Oil (120ml) - £23
What can I say? It's love!

It may cost more than your average body oil, but boy can you tell the difference. The oil feels thick and luxurious to apply, sinks in beautifully and I love the smell. It is soothing and spa-like, rather than some of its sweeter smelling counterparts. I tend to prefer more natural scents, so this is right up my street.

But the million dollar question is, does it work? Well, the jury's still out on that one. I've only been using this for just over a month and I have another couple of months of 'stretching' to go before I can give my absolute verdict. But what I do know is that this product seems to be helping to relieve that irritating itchy tummy sensation and it has been a joy to use so far.

I picked mine up from FeelUnique for £23, but you can also buy direct from the Mamo Mio website.

Next on my wish-list - Boob Tube Bust Firmer. With months of breast-feeding ahead of me, I'm going to need all the help I can get in that department!
