Crafty beans

I might be a bit slow off the starting blocks with this one, but bear with me. There is method in my madness.

Rather than the usual chocolate/beer/DVD combo as a Father's Day gift for 'Mr Bean', for the last two years we have tried to give him a gift that we have made ourselves and he can keep for years to come.

This year's offering was a true family effort involving my trusty camera, a spot of photo editing, card and sticky back plastic... well, blu-tack anyway.

I realise this is a tad late to be of use for Father's Day (!) but I think this would be a lovely gift for any occasion, so I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

I can't claim credit for the idea - thanks for the inspiration goes to Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter - but we had great fun posing for the photos and putting the whole thing together.

I happened to have a letter 'D' lying around the house (as you do) which I bought a while ago with the intention of decoupaging it and sticking it on Dylan's bedroom door. Thankfully, my inability to follow through on most of my ideas meant that it was still hanging about in my cupboard. Given my love for yellow chevrons (had you noticed?) I was able to print a sheet to stick to the front of the letter and then I cut a letter 'A' out of the same card to match.

I chose a frame that goes with the decor of our house, printed the pics and that's it! We were really pleased with the final result and Mr Bean loved it. Although the homemade peanut butter cups (they taste just like Reese's - hands down, his favourite chocolate) were a close contender. Recipe to follow later this week. Dig out the stretchy waistband trousers... its a good 'un!
